I'm new to Demon's Souls and at the moment I'm trying to figure out how not to waste upgrade-materials. I'm playing str/end/vit using the purple flame shield and the claymore (still switching to falcon+1 from time to time if I need something faster). At least easily in the top 5. You shouldn't transform it into anything. Winged spear is alright, its nothing special but it gets the job done. Dragonslayer spear needs very high stats to use well. It needs Strength, Dex, and Faith.
